Arvier and Valgrisenche
Valgrisenche, located a few kilometers west of Val Di Rhemes, is the wildest and least accessible of all the valleys of Valle d'Aosta. The only buses running from Aosta into the valley depart in the summer at 7.00 and 18.00, and in winter only about 17.30, although trains and through buses stop in ARVIER, at the mouth of the valley. The one located above a steep gorge, one of the most charming villages in the region has a medieval, full of winding streets and stone houses of the center and a historic Roman bridge over the gorge. In addition, the village is famous for its production here, apparently the best in the region, blame.
Founded in the nineteenth century, the hotel Col du Mont (• 0165/99001), is not only the oldest in Valle d'Aosta, but also clean, comfortable, pleasant and stylish. Because there is little car traffic in the valley (especially in low season) it is difficult to catch an opportunity up the valley. If it fails, you can ask for a lift in the bars in Arvier. And it is worth trying to get into the depths. On the sides of this narrow valley, above the dark pine forests pile up rocky, snow-covered ridges and although the upper parts of the Valgrisenche were disfigured by a concrete dam of the reservoir located here, the valley is still captivating.
Trails start with, BONNE settlement located above the reservoir. You can, for example, go out to the glacier-covered peak of Testa del Rutor (3486 m.). Defeating the one leading next to Rifugio Scavard (1 VII-30 Sep) the trail occupies 4-5 Hours., in this the signs are followed only by 2 Hours.. Because none of the trails is easy, you should have a good map of Gran Paradiso with you. The cheapest hotel in Bonne is Perret (closed. VI and XI; • 0165/97107), where double rooms without bathroom cost 37 500 L. It also has a restaurant and bar.
